StudioWest is a center of mediation and presentation of free-lance film production. Public events, especially in cooperation with national and international partners, offer our audience a broad and interesting discussion on filmtheoretical and artistic aspects.

Together with international media and cultural initiatives StudioWest works on new forms of media presentation and mediation.

Our festival series „StudioWest goes East“ on documentary and short film from the „East“ was started in 2001 with a pilot presentation on productions from former Yugoslavia. 2002 we cooperated with the documentary and animation scene in the Czech Republic. In 2004 we presented an overview of modern Polish documentaries, featuring Lech Kowalski. Autumn 2006 StudioWest went „Far East“ by presenting and inviting documentary filmmakers from the PR of China, unknown in Europe for the most part.

In September 2008 we are starting our new project „Vide_o_drom“: an integrative media project on the culture and the living conditions of Roma and Sinti in Middle and (South-) Eastern Europe. It will end in June 2009 with a 2-3 days festival in Salzburg, Austria.
We are cooperating with partners in Austria, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria.
